Introduction

This website is intended to introduce you to the exciting world of Scuba Diving and to the Stevenage Sub aqua Club (SSAC).

The club was founded in 1962 and was one of the first clubs to use the newly opened Stevenage swimming pool. We have been holding our meetings there ever since and the club has grown steadily from its original six members to an average of seventy.

In its early days the club was an independent body of amateurs but in 1988 it became affiliated to the Sub Aqua Association (SAA) one of the major official diving organisation. The club aims to fully embrace the training standards of the SAA and promote safe and enjoyable SCUBA diving through the experience and enthusiasm of its members.

So that the club can safely and efficiently achieve its objectives it is administrated an elected committee, which meets once a month and conducts the Annual General Meeting to which all the members are invited.

The club is self-supporting and most of its finances are raised from the members through the SSAC fees, which pay for insurance, pool hire, training and maintenance of the clubs two boats and other equipment.

If you have any other questions regarding Stevenage Sub Aqua Club then please contact Graham or any club member who if they cannot answer your enquires will be able to point you in the right direction.
